Editorial Policy
How we create, review, and maintain health content at Sankofa Family Medicine.
Who Creates Our Content
All health-related articles and educational content published on this site are written by Dr. Yaw Nkrumah, MD, a board-certified family physician and the founder of Sankofa Family Medicine. Content reflects his clinical training, medical judgment, and ongoing professional development.
No health content is produced by, or published without review from, a licensed physician. AI tools may be used in drafting or editing workflows but all clinical claims and recommendations are verified by Dr. Nkrumah before publication.
Medical Review Process
Each post on this site includes a “Medically reviewed by” line and a “Last reviewed” date in the article header. These indicate the date on which the content was most recently verified for clinical accuracy by the reviewing physician.
The initial “Last reviewed” date reflects the publication date of the post, at which point the content was confirmed accurate by Dr. Nkrumah. When clinical guidance evolves or new evidence warrants an update, the date will be revised and any material changes will be noted within the article.
Medical fields such as genetics and precision medicine evolve quickly. We recommend consulting a licensed clinician who knows your individual history before acting on any health information.
Patient Privacy and Anonymization
Any clinical examples, case illustrations, or patient scenarios used in our articles are composites or have been anonymized to protect patient privacy. No individually identifiable health information is included in public-facing content.
Each article containing clinical examples includes a disclosure note at the top stating this explicitly. If you believe a post may inadvertently contain identifiable information, please contact us immediately.
Scope and Educational Purpose
All content on this site is educational and informational in nature. It is not intended as individualized medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment for any specific person or condition. Reading this content does not establish a physician-patient relationship.
We aim to explain how clinical thinking works, not to tell any reader what to do for their specific situation. Always discuss your health with a licensed clinician who has access to your full medical history.
Corrections and Updates
If you identify an inaccuracy, outdated information, or a concern about any content on this site, please contact us. We are committed to correcting factual errors promptly. Significant corrections will be noted within the article along with the date of revision.
We do not alter the meaning or clinical intent of published articles without disclosure. Minor edits for clarity, formatting, or language do not require a correction notice.
No Commercial Bias
Our content is not written to promote specific products, supplements, devices, or third-party services. Clinical recommendations in our articles are based on medical judgment and evidence, not commercial relationships. Sankofa Family Medicine does not accept payment from any third party to feature or recommend their products in editorial content.
